This was my "why on earth am I going to the mall December 23rd?" ensemble. The truth is, it was mainly because I hadn't bought much for the hubs yet. Also, I wanted to hit up Gap and BR for their 40% off-sale-sale. BR was horridly picked over, but two Gaps scored me 4 pairs of pants for can't-beat-em prices. I find that overall, pants are one area that Anthro just doesn't serve me well. I've been feeling less ruffly-girly lately and sorely feeling the lack of pants in my closet. I think I'm going to take a deep breath and try to back off shopping for a while. I partook in most of the great promos that Anthro has sent our way, but I've also returned a whole lot of stuff that just didn't pan out in person. I think now is the time to shop my closet and wait out the true spring line.

All weekend, the weather predicted it was supposed to snow. Then the tricky little storm did an about-face and went somewhere else. The bottom line, I had to work yesterday, which made me a little bitter. I am definitely starting to have to keep the COLD in mind while dressing in the morning. At least I don't need to be out in it much, but bundling is still needed. On the plus side, I can get use out of the boot avalanche that now inhabits my closet.

People around these here parts go NUTS for college football. I don't get it. But, whatever. So the Bedlam game is this weekend, which is like the high holy day for those who follow the religion of Oklahoma football. That means a dress-up day at school, where I tend to feel left out. See, I'm not wearing OU or OSU gear. Not. Going. To. Happen! But, what with color blocking actually being a thing right now, I decided to get into the spirit in my own Anthrofied way.

And in important news, my Anthro Black Friday haul arrived today. Mostly success- one shirt was strangely not included in the shipment, one necklace was totally NOT the one I ordered but I like it anyways, and the Whipstiched Riding Boots are just not meant to be for me. But overall, I'm pretty damn happy with what I ended up with. I did get the 25% coupon since one item was canceled but I'm unsure if it will get used. My budget needs a bit of a break!

So, I have problem feet (warning- TMI ahead). Basically, I have ever-so-slightly-wide feet. Years of trying to cram my feet into cute but cheap shoes in my 20s caused me to develop bunions- ew. I had surgery on my right foot last year (well documented here with my hideous recovery shoe.) I need to be very careful about my footwear because I have no intention of going through that again. The problem is, I am so over wearing ugly grandma shoes. I bulked up my summer/spring shoe wardrobe pretty well this year- plenty of comfy but cute wedges.

But now, of course, cold weather is upon us and I'm feeling the need to diversify my winter options. In the past couple of weeks, these, these, and these have all been ordered and returned. I just been having awful horrible no good very bad luck with shoes. So yesterday, these and the lovelies on my feet got delivered. The Seychelles will be getting returned but I am soooooooooooooooo happy with these nerdy-chic oxford wedges, even after teaching on my feet all day today. I might even order them in blue. I have to wait for my Black Friday haul to get here. My trick is I ordered a full size UP in all the boots- I find in boots I don't mind if they are a little loose because my heel won't slip out the back. Oh yeah, these are on their way as well. So, things are hopefully starting to look up in shoe-land!

P.S. And I'm still on the fence about these - I need to try a heel grip and see if they work.

I had planned to wear Bianka today. Alas, Bianka did not want to cooperate. I think she may be leaving my closet soon because I just can't get her to look good. I already had the skirt/tights/boots on and there was no way in hell I was peeling off that many layers, so this is what I ended up with. This is probably the best I've done with this sweater so far, even if I am a big ol' jumble of complementary colors.

Even though I don't really consider myself part of the "community", I just haven't felt like photographing/blogging since the whole scandal. I have really been reflecting on what I am dressing for. Am I dressing for my life or to take pictures of all the Anthro stuff I own? I shouldn't worry about how something is going to photograph when I dress in the morning. Anyhow, I am taking some time off from shopping. Really, I have things in my closet that have never been worn or have been worn 1-2x so there is really no reason to not just cool it.

This is my very first pair of Anthro shoes. Shoe buying is an arduous process for me after going through surgery in November, as well-documented here. I figured these were fairly safe since there is no heel/toe pinching potential involved. I was surprised that the footbed is actually somewhat padded so they are fairly comfortable. Hooray, after yesterday's wedge disappointment.

Yesterday when I needed to run errands, I decided to make a half-hearted attempted to look like a grown-up. Now, it was 100 degrees and I was DEFINITELY wearing shorts and a tank, but I decided it wouldn't take that much extra time to make it a nice tank and throw on some accessories. These shoes were actually free from Zappos because of a shipping error, but unfortunately my feet are blistered today and I didn't even wear them for that long :( I guess they are going to Goodwill. I went on a slight shoe binge over the past couple of days. I've received two pairs so far (keepers, I think) and four more are on their way. Gulp. Damn you Piperlime, and your tag sale!

And so here it is. The last batch of real clothing that I will wear until about August. Honestly by the time summer ends, I'm actually itching for school to start again so I have a reason to get dressed. Even the last few days of school it was all crops/ts/flip-flops, which I obviously didn't bother capturing on film (disc? memory card?) I might dress up a couple times while we are on vacation. So other than that, I will be probably be pretty silent around here!

And so here is my dirty secret. Bass Pro (yes, the fishing/hunting/outdoor store) is a surprisingly good place to pick up casual basics. I buy my shorts there almost exclusively- they are affordable, well-made, and here is the most important part, LONG ENOUGH WITHOUT BEING OLD LADY SHORTS! This particular line, Bob Timberlake, also has anthro-esque separates occasionally. I could not resist this embroidered chambray skirt.

I spent a lot of time this weekend involved in depilation, exfoliation, and pigmentation. Which is a fancy way of saying I removed a lot of hair, scrubbed myself raw, and applied coats and coats of self-tanner. I now feel somewhat more prepared to face the 90s + temperatures that swept in this weekend. This pretty much means that summer weather is upon us- once we get back-to-back days of 90s, we don't slide back into cooler temps. I am now down to only needing 14 more outfits, but really, about half of those I can dress pretty slobby. It is making sticking to a shopping ban a little more palatable though, because even if I was buying stuff I wouldn't really get a chance to wear any of it!

I have not felt like photographing much lately. #1- I have a giant zit.
