So this is my look for Molly's analogous color challenge. These pants and this cardi are actually not the exact same color, even though they appear so here. Anyhow, I find that blue and green shades are pretty easy to combine together. This also helped me get dressed this morning since I wasn't feeling any particular direction, so there you go.

Back to wearing real clothes this week. Bought this skirt on supersale in July and haven't worn it yet! This shot doesn't really show the detail, but the kind of faux-wrap-hankerchief front has eyelet-ish/embroidery detail. A nice little twist to make it not quite basic.

So today's theme for dress-up was "animal print". I decided to take a very literal interpretation of this and see how many different critters I could cram into one outfit. I think I did pretty well (and I didn't even come close to wearing every animal-motif item that I own.) What's funny is that if you don't see the close-up of all the crazy prints,  this is actually a pretty cute outfit. Anyhow, looking forward to the rest of the week...

Being able to put on jeans and boots shouldn't make me so giddily happy, but there you have it. We had a drizzly/cool weekend and I was in heaven. We're supposed to have a couple more weeks of slightly more summerish weather, but at least we got a sign that fall is really on its way. I do have a couple summer dresses I need to bust out before the weather breaks, but they will have to wait because next week is Homecoming Week and we have all kinds of wacky dress-up days. I'm most excited about tomorrow's ensemble, so stay tuned....

I so didn't realize there was some weird false hem sewn into this dress and it actually is about an inch longer. Gah! The black cardi wasn't the best choice but I needed something to throw over it to be work-appropriate.

I dressed from the feet up today. My thought process was basically- I want to wear comfortable shoes. Now what bottom can I wear- and so on up. I was all about mixing patterns today (already 2 patterns on the shirt and then adding in the cardi). Keeping to a neutral color palette helps me look slightly less crazy.

We are supposed to have a dramatic temp drop tonight (hooray!!) so I might get to break out some boots tomorrow. I get excited over these kinds of things.

I am having a really hard time feeling cute right now. Dressing professionally, but with some personality, and still being acceptably comfortable and not too hot is really getting to be trying. It is so much easier to dress in the fall when I can just throw on dress + cardi + boots and call it a day. Unfortunately we are creeping back into triple digits this week. I suppose I still have a lot of skirts that I can put into the rotation until the heat breaks, but I'm just about ready to be done with summer.
